Aire Retro: Stories in a garment

It's been ages since last time I posted, roughly half a year, when I had just arrived from my research stay in Valencia. And over this period I've been experiencing all dimensions of life in a way I could barely remember since I was a teenager. Don't know what happens with me, ignore the place where all this excitement and delight for life (I'd say lust) comes from. But there it is.

As a result, I haven't managed to get any time to reelaborate all that stuff. I've working like a happy fool during the last six months and celebrating life at the very same time, living faster and faster, daring every new challenge to appear, taking in as much as I could, for I felt I could it all. And, by now, it seems I can.

So today I'd like to start the new year posts with the story of a pretty talented young woman who I know has experienced a considerably similar trajectory of excitement and creativity during last year. Precisely when everything around us was shouting the word "crisis", whispering "desperation", "defeat", even "death". Meanwhile, she was celebrating life, she was fighting against fear of change, and she was giving birth to her first child and her first own worklife project at the very same time.

And maybe that's the reason why her designs are so full of strenght, so radically different of everything you may expect in this context of general despair: they bear a message of defying joy.

When I saw the sweater "Bang" which features this post, I inmediately felt in love with it. I saw a story and decided to become its main character. Everyone who knows me also knows that I'd never ever dare to shoot...But this is precisely one of the greatest pleasures of fiction: It entitles you to daydream without limits...

So here is my new year present for my dear Viole, and for all of you as well...I hope you'll enjoy the pics and the sweater...Find many more dreamy designs at www.aireretro.org

Ruzafa 38

As some of you may already know, two days ago I had my hair cut. Although it may seem rather a banal thing, I was actually quite scared about the prospective results. I mean, I have been having my hair cut by the same person for the last (oh my God) six years!! That person is my beloved Luis Moreno: he is such a great professional that he has managed to make my short hair look  different everytime he put his hands on it. Thereby, you can imagine the way I felt about being "unloyal" to him.
However, some days ago, when I was coming back home from one of my visits to the film library, I couldn't help paying attention to what I think is one of the most original showcases I have ever seen. In front of me I had a huge glass with Corto Maltes' face looking at me steadily right in the eyes. (You'll not see any pic of that glass because the light was reflected in such a way that made the image impossible to be appreciated).
At first I thought I had found a comic shop. But then I noticed the big banner on the top saying RZF 38. Hairdresser. I just couldn´t believe it. It inmediately brought to my mind a friend of mine who is mad about Corto Maltes and I knew that only someone really especial could have his image as showcase. And I had an epiphany in that very moment. That was exactly what I was needing. I decided I had to take the risk (you know: no bet, no win). And I won, I can tell you.
So if you want to have a look, just click here and you will see the stunning and super trendy place where Patricio and Paula will make your hair-desires become real. In my case, I have to say: thanks Paula for such a super cute haircut!!

Electric Blue

I´ve been obsessed with these buildings for months.

I pass ahead of them twice a week in my way to the gym. Well, I don´t do exactly that, because I can´t avoid standing there to observe the ensemble (while people stand there staring alternatively at me and the buildings, wondering what the hell I'm so fascinated with).

Obviously, the answer is light. It´s always changing and the effects it creates are just mind-blowing, absolutely surrealistic: I feel then as if I were the main character into a Tim Burton´s film (I´m thinking about Gotham City, of course).

You may say that these pictures are not real, and you're right: I've been playing with some edition software. But I can tell you that's exactly the way I see that place in my mind.

So sometimes technology offers us this kind of wonderful opportunities: for example,  showing the others the landscapes of our inner world.

I hope you all have had a happy sunday.
